My Uncle was one George Henry Campbell. I have been told that he joined the 7th Bn Sussex at the age of 17, having been born at the end of 1921, and was immediately sent to France where he was wounded in the battle for Amiens shot through the neck and made POW in Poland for the rest of the war.
I believe he may have been the soldier in Ernie Stevenson’s memory as he was wounded through the neck when he was captured.
