No. 6402487 Private A.G. Verth,

This battalion Stretcher-Bearer on May 18 when the Battalion received heavy casualties when bombed in a train just west of Amiens and again on the afternoon of May 20 when the Battalion was attacked by a German armoured force, this man’s devotion to duty in tending the wounded under fire was an inspiration to all who witnessed his behaviour.

It was remarked that he might have been taken for the Medical Officer himself, so quick and efficient was the aid he tendered. (The M.O. was wounded and his sub was killed).

I recommend that this man be Mentioned in Despatches.
(was PoW at Stalag XX.A.)
