Lieutenant Quartermaster
George Thomas William Blackwell
Mentioned in Despatches
29/11/1945
Lieutenant (Q/M) George Thomas William Blackwell (89293) (k.i.a.)
As Quartermaster of a newly formed Battalion he was the most tireless, loyal and conscientious officer in this post that it was possible to have. The high standard of supplies in clothing (replacement so far as it was available) was largely due to the efforts of this officer.
He was unfailingly cheerful and hard working until he was killed by enemy bombing of the train in which the Battalion was on, on 18 May 1940. For his unfailing loyalty and devotion to duty I recommend that this officer be Mentioned in Despatches.
